People of Greater Poland on a Journey – English version of virtual exhibition

On June 11, 2024, as part of the celebration of International Archives Week we opened an exhibition “People of Greater Poland on a Journey.”

It is a project inspired by Wladysław Zamoyski Patron of the Year 2024, established by the Senate of the Republic of Poland, founder of the Załady Kórnickie Foundation , who travelled the world between 1879 and 1881. Moreover, thanks to his efforts, the Eye of the Sea (Tatra Mountains), which he bought during the period of occupation, was icorporated within the borders of Poland. The centenary of his death is an excellent excuse to look at the history of travel with a particular emphasis on nineteenth-century travel. During the exhibition, visitors can get acquainted with such topics as: Old Polish travels, the history of means of the transport, diplomatic travel, women’s travel, unusual souvenirs, or city of Poznań as a tourist destination. The exhibition was created in cooperation with the State Archives in Poznan with the portal Hrabia Tytus, and was financed by the Polish History Museum in Warsaw as a part of the program Patriotyzm Jutra,”

We encourage you to check the virtual version of the exhibition, presented both in English and Polish.
